Obituary for Rufus Lee Woods

Rufus Woods passed away peacefully at home on April 27th 2015 with his family and little dog Bella by his side. He made his last wishes clear to be free from hospitals, IV pricks and lengthy doctor visits. He simply wanted to come home and his daughters honored his final wishes. Rufus was born in Covington, KY on September 20th, 1951, to the late Oscar and Martis Sanders Woods. He is also preceded in death by his wife Janet Woods, Brother Oscar Douglas Woods and Sister Evelyn Campbell. Survivors include Daughters-Christina Little, Janet Woods and Laurie Woods, Son in-law-Darrin Little, Granddaughters-Emily Little and Kourtney Little, his loyal dog Bella Woods, Brothers-Harry, George and Joe Woods, Sisters-Beatrice Price, Donna Block and Patricia Hart. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rufus was a strong, hardworking, loving, caring and protective Husband and Father. He was also funny and had a great sense of humor. Rufus loved his girls more than anything in the world and would do anything to make sure they were taking care of. He was an amazing father who dedicated his life to providing for his family till the day that he died. He was surrounded with all women in his life; even all the family dogs were female! He cherished his two granddaughters and would give them anything and everything he possibly could to make them happy. On days he wasnt feeling well and didnt seem to have reason to smile, he couldnt help but crack and grin when he saw his granddaughters. He loved his Son in-law Darrin Little and looked forward to seeing him when he returned home each week from his truck routes! Rufus had a special relationship with Darrin and knew he would take care of things after he was gone. He had a love for horses and worked for many years as a horse trainer at River Downs. Rufus also worked for many years as a sand blaster at the Derrick Company, a very labor intensive job. He was never late and never missed work. He instilled a strong work ethic to his children. He especially loved card nights with friends and family, horse racing and boxing. Rufus was a very strong and tough man who didnt want anyone, even his daughters to see him sick. He was very brave and now he is at peace with his Wife in Heaven. Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 pm on Thursday, April 30th 2015 at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home, 529 Main Street Milford, Ohio 45150. Funeral Services will follow at 7:30 pm also at the funeral home.
