Obituary for Lloyd H. Gholson, III

Mr. Lloyd H. Gholson III, 64 of Milford, Ohio died unexpectedly on January 27th, 2012 at home. Lloyd was born on November 7, 1947 at Riverside Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. He is the son of the late Lloyd Gholson II and Emma Schmidt Gholson. Following graduation from Ballard Memorial High School in 1965, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and History and went on achieve a Masters Degree in Education from Murray State University. He was a mathematics teacher at Ballard County High School, Fulton County High School and then on to Reidland High School where he retired. He also worked for the USDA office for Ballard and McCracken counties. In his spare time he worked as a skillful carpenter. After retirement and moving to Milford, Ohio he had employment at Wal-Mart. Lloyd enjoyed traveling around the U.S. especially Florida and Alaska. He was an avid stamp and coin collector and had many volumes of completed collections he spent a lifetime gathering. He was an excellent gardener which he took pride in every year. He was a member of the United Church of God where he had served in the home office while living in Milford. He served by volunteering in the production studio for the filming of the Beyond Today telecast and also recently opening the service hall and preparation for church service. Lloyd was the beloved husband and proceeded in death by Carole N. Gholson. He was the loving father and survived by three children, Lloyd Gholson IV (Amy) of St. Louis, Leslye Gholson (Rina) of Detroit and LeighAnn Gholson of Nashville and survived by his first wife and the mother of his children, Jeanene Miller. He is survived by two step-daughters, Brenda Grupp of Florida and Stacey Shoemaker (Michael) of Milford. He was an affectionate grandfather of Lloyd �Quint�, Evelyn and Corey Gholson and James and Samuel Shoemaker. He was the beloved brother to and survived by Katherine Brown, Charlie Gholson and Louise Musgrave and he was preceded in death by Louis Gholson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3rd at Morrow Funeral Home 449 Wyatt Drive, Kevil Kentucky 42053. Visitation will be held from 3-5pm with the funeral service at 5pm.
