Obituary for James Byron Barbeau

James Byron Barbeau was the son of Colonel Byron and Kathleen Ashburn Barbeau. He is survived by his wife Faye H. Barbeau. They were married for 62 years. Their children are Kennedy Matter, Drs. J. B. and Deborah Barbeau of Boston, and Thomas Barbeau, Terrance Park. Jim leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Margaux Radano, Gabrielle Matter, Harry Rex, William, Daniel, Jack, Ava, Gannon, James (Ash) Barbeau. His sister is Kaathleen (Jack) Leone, Batavia, Ohio.
As a young man, Jim spent most of his life outside of the country. His early education was at the Panama Canal zone where his dad was in charge of building one of the locks. When WWII broke out, his mother, sister and Jim were flown out of Panama in darkness. The plane was filled with rubber tires for the war effort. His dad stayed behind to enlist in the war. After the war, his dad had the assignment to lay out an air strip in Adack, Alaska. Adack is the furtherest out island in the Aleutian chain near Russia. Jim has told many interesting experiences while living and studying there. Soon after, Col. Barbeau was asked to help rehab Frankfort, Germany. Consequently, Jim's freshman year of college was in Munich, Germany.
Jim graduated from Ohio State University where he was a member of Lamda Chi Fraternity, and Northern Kentucky Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He was a member of the Trial Lawyers Association and past President of The Clermont County Bar Association. A Memorial service to honor Jim will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. Thomas Episcopl Church, Terrace Park, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrance of Jim be given to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Terrace Park, Ohio, Hospice of Crossroads, or the place of your choice.
