Obituary for Edward B. Osborne

Edward B. Osborne, born in Indian Hill and long time resident of Goshen, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2014 at the age of 94. He was the loving son of Jesse Price Osborne and Jessie M. Osborne, devoted husband of the late Rosemary (nee White) and beloved father. He felt his greatest accomplishment was founding the Golden Donkey Dinner, which was declared the biggest, most successful fundraiser for the Democratic Party. Edward graduated from Wilmington College in 1942 with a BS in education, and from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Law in 1948. Very active in the Democratic party, he was the Political and Government Positions Secretary , Clermont County Democratic Central and Executive committees from 1956-1964, and Chairman from 1964-1982. He worked the Clermont County Board of Elections from 1957-1960 and then served as the Chairman from 1960-1981. Mr. Osborne served his country in the Army, entering as a private in 1942, and was discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1952 after serving in the 95th, 70th, and 81st Divisions, the 1st Calvary, and the JAG Corp in the South Pacific, Korea and Japan. He earned a Bronze Star, 2nd award Combat Infantrymans Badge, Bronze Arrowhead, Pacific Theater Ribbons with 4 Battle Stars, Japanese Army of Occupation Medal, Korean Campaign Ribbon, and Philippine Campaign Ribbon. Visitation for Mr. Osborne will be 10 am until time of service, 12 pm, Wednesday, March 26th, all at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home and Crematory in Milford. If desired, memorial donations may be directed to the League for Animal Welfare, 4193 Taylor Rd, Batavia, OH 45103.
