Obituary for Douglas O. Robinette

Douglas O. Robinette died quietly in his home at Twin Lakes in Cincinnati on the evening of Friday, January 24th. He was attended by his family, daughters Lee Robinette (Phil Craft) and Elizabeth Schott (Don), sons Matt and Phil (Jan Campbell), and by his caregiver and friend, Mollie Mills. He was the embodiment of the Greatest Generation, growing up and graduating from high school during the Great Depression, serving with the 3rd Air Depot in India during World War II, graduating from Ohio State as a chemical engineer on the G.I. Bill, and enjoying a successful 36 year career with Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati. He was married for 54 years to Betty Lee Wilson from his hometown of Ashland, Kentucky, until her death on 2006. Also preceding him in death were his parents, George Dewey and Lute Fields Robinette and his brother and sister, Bill and Ruth Robinette. To his friends and family in Kentucky and West Virginia, he was known as Jack Robinette, and he was truly a Jack-of-all-trades: an amateur mechanic, carpenter, electrician, gardener, mason, and lumber jack. He was also a student of history, a lover of nature, and a world traveler. From him, his children learned to love the outdoors and especially our National Parks. He believed in the greatness of this country and tried to make it a better place through his support of conservative organizations. Arrangements will be through Craver-Riggs Funeral Home and Crematory and will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Cincinnati Nature Center at, and Hospice of Southwest Ohio Foundation, 7625 Camargo Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45243.
